Advance Manufacturing
Project: Northeast Ohio Polymer Strategic Opportunity Roadmap
Client: NorTech
Battelle was engaged by the industrial and academic leadership of Northeast Ohio to develop a roadmap for the polymer and advanced materials industry. This comprehensive assessment and positioning strategy enables Northeast Ohio to become a major national and international center in polymer and advanced materials research and development, commercialization, and product innovation. The study found that polymers and advanced materials can serve as a key anchor for Northeast Ohio’s future economy with impacts and contributions to a range of industries from health and energy to transportation and construction, and an enabler to many other fields from the biosciences to nanotechnology. The Polymer and Advanced Materials Strategic Opportunity Roadmap also developed the actions and strategies that can establish Northeast Ohio’s future by taking advantage of this existing and emerging research and technology base.
Project: Positioning St. Louis Region in Advanced Manufacturing Clusters
Client: St. Louis Regional Commerce and Growth Association (RCGA)
Battelle assisted the St. Louis Regional Commerce & Growth Association (RCGA) in preparing a detailed, action focused strategy that addresses how the St. Louis region can build upon the extensive advanced manufacturing sector. The strategy builds on our earlier cluster strategy work for RCGA in the plant and life sciences and information technologies. Battelle identified core competencies of the St. Louis region in advanced manufacturing; prepared a regional economic analysis; benchmarked best practices across a broad range of national and regional leading regions; and conducted industry focus groups assessing the region’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
